Jenny L. Hanson is an assistant professor of communication studies, film, and new media at Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN. Hanson is also the director of film and new media at Augsburg University, where students can earn a 4-year liberal arts degree in film production, game design, new media, strategic communication and more. 

Born in North Dakota, residing now in Minneapolis, Hanson earned an MFA in New Media abroad from Transart Institute.  Hanson has owned a production company and worked in youth and community media.

Hanson is interested in representation, parity, and equity in film and new media practices. She conducts research in these areas and is active in the University Film and Video Association and EDIT Media, an organization committed to teaching media using equitable, diverse, and inclusive practices.  Hanson’s own creative work is in video, film, and new media.
