To continue from my earlier post – below are some of the must-see films that we are playing this year.

The Last Great Circus Flyer – Sunday 10/25 7:00 PM

The Last Great Circus Flyer is one of the year’s best performance arts documentaries, about the greatest trapeze artist who ever lived – the first to ever complete a quadruple jump – who one day abruptly quit the circus and walked away. Director will be present, as will the trapeze artist. This is a magical film.

Too Late – Monday 10/26 8:30 PM & Saturday 10/31 10:15 AM

Noir Thriller, and Celebrity in person! Too Late – MN native and Oscar nominee John Hawkes will be in attendance to accept a lifetime achievement award. Film is a brilliant noir thriller that plays with real-time much as last year’s “Birdman” did. It’s composed of five unbroken 20-minute takes.

A Year and Change –  Tuesday 10/27 8:15 PM

Redemption Drama: A Year and Change, great indie drama about redemption and rebirth –  about a guy in freefall who makes the decision at a New Year’s party to redeem his life. Strong performances. Director Steve Suettinger will be here!

Raiders!: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made. Wednesday 10/28 7:15 PM

Fan Film, Hilarious Documentary: Raiders!: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made. For anyone who works in the film industry, or just loves film, this is a must-see. One of my favorite documentaries of the year, which premiered at SXSW, about that shot-by-shot remake of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” that a couple teens made back in the 80s and 90s. Just a riot.

The Adderall Diaries – Thursday 10/29 7:10 PM & Saturday 10/31 3:00 PM

For Book Lovers (and James Franco fans!): The Adderall Diaries: Big film for book fans, based on the “true-crime memoir” by writer Stephen Elliott. Big passion project for James Franco. Director Pamela Romanowsky, a MN native, will be here. Not sure which screening of the film she’s attending (though might be both)
